League to highlight former football greats throughout the week.
Greeensboro, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that the league's official website, theACC.com, will highlight the Class of 2012 ACC Football Legends through a special week-long series of features.
The week of legends series begins Monday, November 12 with Miami's Ted Hendricks and Wake Forest's Ed Stetz. The series will conclude on Saturday, November 17 with pieces featuring Clemson's Bennie Cunningham and NC State's Torry Holt. Each day will feature a pair of ACC Legends, based on their teams' matchups in this week's football schedule. The Legends from Miami and Wake Forest will be featured on the same day, as both schools play nonconference games on Saturday.
Each online feature will consist of a written Q-and-A accompanied by a one minute video vignette, sponsored by the ACC Digital Network. The series will provide fans with more information on the accomplishments of these football greats, both on and off the gridiron. The 2012 Class of Legends was initially announced by the ACC on August 13.
All 12 ACC Legends will be recognized during the 2012 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game weekend. They will be honored at the ACC Night of Legends sponsored by the Belk Bowl on Friday, Nov. 30, and on Dec. 1, during pregame ceremonies at the 8th Annual Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship game held at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The ACC Football Championship Game will be nationally televised with either a 7:45 pm (ESPN) or 8 p.m. (ABC) kickoff.
Taking place on Friday night, November 30 at the Charlotte Convention Center, this signature event pays tribute to outstanding athletes from ACC Football programs both past and present by honoring the 2012 ACC Football season?s award winners as well as a Legend from each ACC institution representing their university during the 2012 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship game in Charlotte. The gala will embody the true spirit of ACC Football and will offer attendees the opportunity to meet some of the biggest names in college football. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 7 p.m.
