Weight Loss: Do toning shoes, cinnamon, green tea or diet pills ...

As a lover of health and fitness I make a considerable effort to incorporate my love of a healthy lifestyle in to my Youtube Channel. I believe that both inner and outer beauty is not created through the artistic application of makeup, but through a sincere belief in one?s own beauty and happiness.

Because fitness seems to be a little explored journey by many women and men alike, I receive multiple questions a day seeking the existence of some sort of shortcut. In fact the weight loss industry is valued at a cool $60.9 billion dollars. Its natural- as humans we want to achieve the best result with the least amount of effort. This efficiency has helped us advance as a civilization, but in my years of healthy living i?ve found no substitute either in science or modern medicine for a well rounded diet and exercise. Below I?ll examine some of the more popular easy weight loss ?tricks? and examine them below:

Diet pills are quite arguably the most controversial of all ?easy? weight loss methods. They seem effortless, are cheaper than surgical intervention and many are available over the counter. The most popular weight loss pills involve a appetite suppressant or a fat absorption inhibitor to encourage weight loss.?However I can think of no diet or weight loss supplement that is without a long string of lawsuits and medical warnings- as well as unhappy customers with no obvious reduction in weight. Additionally there are few weight loss drugs on the market today that have been certified for long term use. If lifestyle changes are not implemented after the user stops taking the medicines, the weight will certainly return (and often times can increase in GAINED weight).

Toning shoes are a recent phenomenon that have rose to popularity just in this past decade. In 2010 alone Americans spent more than 1 billion dollars on shoes such as Skechers Shape Ups or New Balance?s True Balance Toning Shoes. The shoes appear to be normal sneakers but have a highly curved sole- allegedly forcing the user to activate different muscle groups and burn more calories while simply wearing them around. Popular shoe makers such as Skechers and New Balance were the subject of a flurry of lawsuits for false advertisement when it was discovered that use of the shoes made no significant increase in caloric burn. The FTC ordered Skechers to pay over $40 million dollars in settlements to people misled that the shoes would encourage weight loss and tighten muscle. Unfortunately that was not the end of Skecher?s or New Balance?s legal woes- victims allegedly injured by the instability of the shoes have now hired specialized Skechers lawyers?to hold the companies accountable for their injuries in court.

To be truthful the idea of wearing toning shoes to lose weight is similar to drinking green tea or incorporating moderate amounts of cinnamon for effortless weight loss- it simply doesn?t hold water. Coffee, green tea and cinnamon have all been celebrated for their thermogenic effect on the body- but drinking copious amounts of the stuff is NOT healthy for you-nor will it make you significantly slimmer. In fact large amounts of any of these can leave you sick, and possibly be lethal.

So think twice before seeking ?skinny shortcuts? when it comes to losing weight and gaining muscle there is no other substitute for a well rounded diet and regular exercise.
